Nobody hands you a playbook for this.

There are a thousand versions of fractional, interim executive or portfolio careers and most of them live inside one person's head. The operator who cracked pricing. The one with a referral engine that actually works. The one who figured out how to run a portfolio without burning out in year two.

None of them are writing it down. They tell you over coffee.

That's the real transfer mechanism, and it only ever reaches as far as your existing network. So we're putting everyone in one room for a day.

How the day works

You are not being talked at. The room writes the schedule.

Bring one question, or one thing you want to learn. You pitch it in thirty seconds, it goes on the wall, and everyone votes with dots. The topics that people actually want fill the day, led by the people who have already solved them.

Speed networking opens the morning, because the fractional life attracts a lot of introverts and everyone needs permission to start talking.

Find Your People is the brainchild of Penelope Barr, Portfolio Careerpreneur, and Zac King, Fractional Executive. Between them, they have navigated executive careers, fractional work, portfolio careers, consulting and the sometimes messy business of creating a working life on your own terms.

They are bringing together the people they wish they had around them when they were figuring it out, to share what works, what does not and what nobody puts in a playbook.

Penelope Barr is a portfolio careerist, advisor, author, technology innovator, coach and working parent. She draws on more than 25 years of executive experience and has spent the past five years running a portfolio career, coaching others to set up their own practice, products and income streams. She created the 6:3:3 seasonal portfolio career concept and wrote Win the Night to Win the Day (Hardie Grant, 2026).

Zac King went fractional in 2021 and founded the Fractional Exec Community because nobody else in Australia was talking about it. It now brings fractional executives together through a paid operator community and meetups in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
